My father (far right) with his brother John (on phone) and John's wife, Ladeen.
John was a talented artist, musician and philanthropist who helped many people.
I did some music and art therapy with John in the New Orleans ICU when he fell ill.
I cherish the discussions we had at that time and contemplate the things he taught me.
He was in the hospital due to issues with his lungs that necessitated an organ transplant.
A healthy donor emerged just in time for the surgery, which took place and went very well.
However, despite his strength and progress, he developed internal bleeding and passed away.
He never smoked.
